With ample car parking space the accommodation is for a maximum of 4 people. Facilities include a sofa double bed & sitting area / diner, a small kitchen area, accessible loo and shower facilities, 1 profile and bunk bed.
(Available to ‘All-In’ membership only).
Situated on the Tickwood estate – just 2 miles from Much Wenlock – the cabin is accessed from its own private track off the main farm road of the estate, and positioned on the edge of beautiful, wild and historic woodland, broken only by grazing pastures for the farm animals. The cabin has been carefully adapted to provide accessible accommodation for children and young adults with disabilities and additional needs together with their families.
Depending on rotation, farm manager Martin Taylor-Lloyd will have either Hereford cattle (and maybe their calves), Beulah sheep (and maybe their lambs), llama or Islandic horses fairly close by. The Farm is a fully working farm, but – for reasons of safety – access to the farm area is not available.
Next to The Llama Cabin you’ll find an area of woodland which has been sensitively given over to Forest School during term time. This area also contains the Woodland Walk where wheelchair access is provided over discretely embedded ‘eco-friendly’ matting. Children and young adults should always be accompanied by responsible adults even here, but it’s a wonderful stroll for those who are interested as long as no one strays from the recognised paths.
Although the remaining woodlands, including areas just off the paths, aren’t available to the public – again for reasons of safety, during late afternoons and evenings, you may be visited by, or catch a glimpse of, squirrel, rabbits, badgers, foxes and of course the herd of wild deer who frequent the deeper woods 24 hours a day. The Llama Cabin can of course be used as a base for travelling to see local attractions such as Ironbridge and Much Wenlock museums and the Severn Valley Railway at Bridgnorth.
Tickwood Llama Cabin is available to members of the Shropshire Council ‘All-In’ Short Breaks programme.
